Local transit providers report increased trips and volunteer growth

Representatives of local transportation providers updated the committee on service changes and demand.

Taylor, representing Easy Mo (Jefferson Franklin Community Action Corporation), said the agency recently relocated to Union and has seen almost double the number of walk‑ins in the month since opening the new office. Taylor also reported seven active volunteers with three more pending and said the office is closed July 1–4 for an annual staff reset.

Megan, reporting on intercity service (OATS), said the inner‑city medical route to St. Louis is operating nearly every day and provided 18 trips in the month reported, not counting return trips. She said rides generally cost $10 each way under the current grant arrangement and that the service remains door‑to‑door while demand is manageable.

Both providers said they continue to accept volunteers and will adjust operations if demand requires consolidated pickup locations. Committee members thanked the providers and noted the local service supports residents’ access to specialty medical appointments and other key destinations.
