Board adopts aligned school and district goals, adds objective to hire a permanent superintendent

Board members and staff presented a proposed set of aligned school board and district goals developed after a July 29 work session. Staff said the goals would guide district and school-level planning and that implementation plans and measures are already being drafted.

During discussion a board member asked to add a new goal: hire a permanent superintendent. A board member clarified the addition did not preclude the interim superintendent from applying for the permanent role. A motion to adopt the 2025-26 aligned goals, amended to add objective 3.13 (hire a permanent superintendent), was moved and seconded; the board voted unanimously to adopt the goals as amended.

Staff told the board schools would set goals aligned to the board's adopted measures and that staff were developing action steps, point people and measures for each goal. The board also discussed committee structures and next steps for school- and district-level implementation.
