Board adopts updated municipal code ordinance to align with state statute changes

The Board of Aldermen on July 7 adopted Bill 3505 on second reading, approving a recodification ordinance that updates the city’s municipal code to reflect recent changes in Missouri statutes. Staff described the changes as routine and necessary for compliance for a fourth-class city.

A staff member explained that the state revises statutes regularly and, “as a fourth class city, we are bound to amend our code to reflect those changes. This year, they were relatively minor,” the staff member said. The bill was approved on roll call and assigned ordinance number 3410.

Why it matters: Municipal codes must be consistent with state law for enforcement and legal clarity. The ordinance updates Saint Ann’s code to match state statutory revisions.

What’s next: The updated code becomes effective per the ordinance adoption schedule; no additional board action was recorded at the meeting.
