Aldermen approve $3,000 cleanup along Huck Road; invasive-species treatment to begin this fall

Public-works staff recommended and the committee approved a $3,000 cleanup and herbicide treatment along the gabion-rock slope on the residential side of Huck Road adjacent to City Hall and Budweil Park. The work, to be performed by the city's abatement contractor (Lehi Properties and Landscaping Construction), will remove overgrowth and apply chemical controls to limit regrowth of invasive species; staff said work around trees and the opposite side of the road will be treated this fall when trees are dormant.

Public-works staff noted the project will include vegetation removal and spot chemical treatment to prevent regrowth in the rock area. Aldermen asked that the city return to an annual spring maintenance cycle to avoid the overgrowth recurring. The board approved forwarding the item to the full board and then approved the contract award; staff said the work would be scheduled promptly.
