District facilities update: boiler designs, office relocation and questions about county matching timeline

District facilities staff provided a construction update March 18 covering design work on boilers, an office relocation and the district’s plans to use anticipated county matching funds.

Staff said design work is underway for central and other sites, and presented a rough estimate for boilers and related projects. “That rough proposal we have, you know, a million 3 we’re thinking we have at High school,” a staff member said when discussing preliminary cost estimates. Staff noted additional projects remain on the district’s priority list and explained that access to county allocation dollars is expected beginning July 1, which would enable reimbursement‑style workflows for district expenditures.

Trustees asked whether the district can commit match funding and receive reimbursement after county funds are available; staff said they will confirm the appropriate mechanism with county officials and state contacts and coordinate designs and bidding so work can move forward when funds are accessible. Staff cautioned that upfront payments will be limited until the district has access to the allocation and that the program is for rural counties and carries specific funding mechanisms.

No formal action was taken; staff said they will continue designing projects and follow up with additional cost proposals and clarifications on reimbursement timelines and matching rules.
