Board approves consent agenda; budget amendments include nursing supplies and CTE grant coding change; archery trip to nationals cleared

The White County Board of Education on March 20 approved its meeting agenda and consent agenda, clearing four budget amendments and a field-trip request for White County High School’s archery team.

The budget changes did not add new revenue to the district, the director said during discussion. Amendments included $6,000 credited to the general purpose school fund for nursing supplies from Stellar Therapy Services reimbursements, a $75,000 reclassification of a career-pathways CTE grant revenue code (out-of-school-time career pathways, fund 142 subfund 951), a $5,701.55 transfer to move unused grant funds into a materials line, and a $5,107.58 transfer from Perkins Reserve funds to equipment to complete a criminal-justice classroom project.

Board members asked whether the $75,000 CTE grant is recurring; staff said the grant runs through next year and that finance staff would confirm whether it is expected to continue beyond the current grant period. The board approved the consent package by voice vote; no roll-call tally was recorded in the meeting minutes.

The consent agenda also included approval of a field trip for the White County High School archery team to travel to the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) nationals in Louisville, Ky., in May.

Why it matters: The budget amendments redirect existing funds to classroom supplies and equipment for career-technical education and nursing supports rather than expanding district spending. The archery trip approval clears a school-requested out-of-state competition that will appear on the district’s travel calendar.
