Fiscal Court awards asphalt and de‑icing salt bids as part of routine road procurement

Scott County Fiscal Court on May 2025 opened and awarded routine road‑department bids for asphalt paving materials and de‑icing salt.

Hamilton Hinkle submitted the only bid for asphalt paving materials with base course at $79 per ton and surface course at $81 per ton; the court authorized awarding the asphalt contract to Hamilton Hinkle.

For de‑icing salt, the county received two bids: Compass Minerals at $109.83 per ton and Morton Salt at $115.93 per ton. The court awarded the de‑icing salt contract to Compass Minerals as the lower bidder.

Court members noted the county had replenished salt stockpiles and directed staff to proceed with separate motions to award each contract per procurement practice; both motions passed on voice votes.
