Fowler Drive concrete finished; Aldi intersection work likely delayed until fall for utility relocations

Somers Point’s city engineer told the council that concrete work on Fowler Drive is complete and paving is scheduled for the next Tuesday or Wednesday, weather permitting.

The engineer also provided an update on planned intersection improvements related to the Aldi site. Several utility poles need to be relocated before intersection construction can proceed; crews are working on relocation, and the engineer said the intersection work is expected to start in the fall, which the state Department of Transportation prefers for traffic‑management reasons.

The engineer noted utility‑pole relocation can take time but reported crews are continuing on‑site work and that pole relocation is a key dependency for intersection construction.
