Representatives of the Community Engagement and Police Advisory Board (CPAP) thanked the Putnam County Legislature's protective services committee for support and described recent outreach events and plans for a sensory playground.
Ron Reed, representing CPAP, said proceeds from an April 26 event "will go towards a future development of a sensory playground, a safe and inclusive space designed for children of all abilities." Reed recognized local partners including the Putnam County Department of Mental Health and the sheriff's department and singled out Scott Rhodes, a co-founder of CPAP and an advocate for the playground concept.
Reed also summarized prior programming, including a Black History Month event in February that highlighted local historical figures and community storytelling. He thanked county officials and volunteers for participation despite poor weather during the April walk.
Committee members expressed appreciation and offered continued support. The remarks were delivered during the meeting's public comment portion; no formal committee action was required.
