The Catalina Foothills Unified School District governing board approved a lengthy consent agenda at its May 13 meeting that included multiple procurement awards tied to bond projects, building renewal grants and routine district purchasing.
The motion that carried 5-0 approved a long list of items included in agenda item 5.0. Highlights presented in the motion and supporting staff materials included:
- Award to Canyon State Bus Sales for three new Micro Bird special education buses, amount $494,559.56.
- Award to Roadrunner Paving and Asphalt Maintenance for parking lot and fire lane milling, repaving, resealing and restriping at Esperia Canyon Middle School, amount $423,667.80.
- Award to Roadrunner Paving and Asphalt Maintenance for parking lot milling and repaving at Bentonah Vista Elementary School, amount $199,243.91.
- Award to CAPCOM for replacement of acoustical ceiling tiles at Canyon View Elementary School, amount $286,882.00.
- Building Renewal Grant change order to Core Construction to replace 22 doors at Manzanita Elementary School, amount $39,576.00.
Board members noted these items are part of ongoing bond and building renewal projects; board member Jacqueline DiVali highlighted the personnel memorandum and summer employment opportunities for community school summer counselors drawn from current students and alumni. Item 5.5 (personnel detail) was pulled for discussion and then later approved along with the rest of the consent agenda items.
The motions for the consent agenda and related personnel approvals passed unanimously (5-0). The approvals authorize staff to execute the contracts and proceed with the projects per the award documents.
