West Irondequoit board appoints Tim Baker principal of Dake Junior High

The West Irondequoit Board of Education voted unanimously May 8 to appoint Tim Baker as principal of Dake Junior High School.

Dr. Farrell introduced the recommendation and the board discussed the multi-stage selection process before voting. Baker, who was present for the vote, thanked the board and family members in attendance. "I'm very excited. I've worked very, very hard to put myself in this position," he said. "All I can say is that I'm ready to go, and you definitely didn't get this wrong." The motion to appoint Baker passed 5–0.

Board members praised the comprehensive search and selection process and noted Baker's connection with staff and students during interviews. The district said it will issue a press release to staff and the community announcing the appointment, and Baker will begin transition activities and meet building staff as outlined by the superintendent's office.

The appointment was part of the personnel agenda presented at the meeting; the personnel slate and related motions were acted on by the board as typical first- and second-reading procedures and votes recorded in the minutes.
