HENDRICK HUDSON, N.Y. — The Hendrick Hudson Central School District held a public hearing May 7 on its proposed 2025–26 budget and told the community that state aid details remain unsettled as multiple state budget bills continue to move through Albany.
District officials said nine state budget bills affecting education were still unresolved at the time of the May 7 meeting and that final state aid figures were expected within roughly two weeks. The district said officials expected to have updated information before the scheduled budget vote on Tuesday, May 20, but cautioned they had not been told whether any major changes were coming.
Business office updates at the meeting included distribution plans for the final budget book and a forthcoming budget newsletter to be delivered to homes several days before the vote. A board member reiterated the budget vote hours: May 20 at FGL Elementary School, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The consent agenda included a recorded donation: $2,325 to the Office of Special Education to be used to partially fund summer camp for students with disabilities. The board moved and seconded approval of that donation; the motion was taken by voice vote.
Board members encouraged residents to review the district’s line‑by‑line budget materials and to send questions to the district business office or to the superintendent. The business office also reported it is conducting an internal quality risk assessment and is interviewing candidates to replace the district treasurer.
No formal amendments to the budget were recorded at the May 7 meeting; the district expects any state changes to be reflected before the May 20 vote.
