County staff reported at the July 1 meeting that employees were called out to respond to a recent wind event that left multiple trees down in road ditches. A staff member said crews put up barricades and cut trees; the response drew “a lot of positive feedback,” according to the staff member.
The staff member said two full-time operators were assigned and other crews were pulled from the shop to respond. He said several trees remain in ditches, including near Burwick, and that Skyview Tree Service was contracted to remove a tree that was hanging over the road but had not yet fallen.
Commissioners noted uncertainty about whether the event had been classified as a tornado. Staff said they had placed available signs and were awaiting three signs that still needed to be installed. No formal action or vote on emergency funding or declarations was recorded during the report.
Staff said they would continue to monitor progress and that cleanup and trash pickup would continue as work proceeds.
