The Board of Aldermen on Thursday approved Resolution R25‑37 authorizing the city administrator to execute a contract for repair of the storm line on Mize Road. The project will remove the failing corrugated metal pipe and replace it with new PVC pipe, staff told the board.
During discussion, staff said portions of the older storm system used corrugated metal pipe that has corroded over time; the line collapsed last year in the area. “This is one of the projects that was identified” during the budget process for that older part of town, a city staff member said. The work at the cited Gulfview address will be a complete removal and replacement, not the slip‑liner repairs used elsewhere.
Aldermen asked whether the replacement would use concrete; staff replied the repair will be PVC replacement for the problematic segment. The resolution passed on an affirmative voice vote.
Staff said the replacement is needed to ensure continued storm-water function in that neighborhood; no construction timetable or contract value was provided at the meeting.
