Resident warns of flooding risk to townhouse, asks city to reroute pond drainage

During public comment a resident described repeated drainage and runoff behind his daughter's townhouse and asked the city to reroute a pond outlet he said contributes to the problem. He said work on the site has been ongoing for about five years, that crews have cleaned a pipe, and that if the pond above the townhouse were to overflow it could carry away the townhouse.

The resident asked whether the city would move the drain outlet. "If my daughter gets killed when this here water takes out her townhouse ... Which one costs more? My daughter's life or rerouting that pond to go behind Burger King?" he said during his remarks. The mayor reminded the speaker his three minutes were up; staff member Patrick responded that he had been addressing the issue and was aware of the site visit.

Mayor Ward said the resident may email the board or return for public comment at a future meeting and reiterated the three‑minute public‑comment limit. No board vote or formal direction to reroute the pond was taken at the meeting, and staff did not provide a timeline or estimated cost for any reroute.
