Julie Morris addressed the Milford Board of Adjustments during the public-comment segment to call for accountability over recent variance approvals on Truett Avenue and urged board members who supported those variances to resign. "The decision to approve variances on Truett Avenue was not only at odds with our community needs, but also a violation of the trust residents place in their appointed officials," Morris said. Morris said the board exists to enforce standards, not bend them for convenience or for developers who fail to meet code, and said granting variances without public consent can destroy public confidence. "When decisions repeatedly favor special interests over public safety and community standards, confidence in the process is destroyed," she said. Morris also referenced an ongoing public integrity study and said the community should expect "the highest standards from those in positions of authority." She concluded by saying Milford "deserves a board that defends the code, respects public input, and upholds fairness."
