The Butler County Board of Health and commissioners approved renewal of a memorandum of understanding between the county health department and Child Start to provide medical services for Head Start children and staff.
Health Director Jamie Downs described the MOU’s services, saying the county provides physicals for uninsured children and TB testing and reduced-cost vaccinations for Head Start staff. “This benefits both us and Child Start who handles our Head Start here in Butler County,” Downs said, and asked the board to renew the agreement. A motion to approve the memorandum of understanding and allow the chair to sign passed on a recorded unanimous vote.
Staff said the arrangement is budgeted and keeps a program offering essential preventive services to uninsured children and Head Start employees.
