Georgetown Planning Commission elects officers at Aug. 20 meeting

The Georgetown Planning Commission elected Larry Roethling as chair, Michael Briggs as vice chair and Chris LaCates as secretary at its meeting on Aug. 20, 2025, during the commission’s required reorganization at the start of the session.

The reorganization matters because the commission will oversee several land‑use and planning actions through the coming year, including a five‑year review of the town’s comprehensive plan and a renewal request for the Downtown Development District.

The commission opened the meeting and immediately moved to reorganize. New members Ira Roach III and Thomas Allen were introduced before nominations. A motion to nominate Larry Roethling for chair was made and seconded; the commission conducted a roll‑call vote and the motion carried. Subsequent nominations and roll‑call votes selected Michael Briggs for vice chair and Chris LaCates for secretary. The commission then approved the minutes from the June 18 meeting.
