County tables IT TIPS agreement; commissioners seek time to review

Callahan County Commissioners Court on July 28 voted to table consideration of a proposed one-year IT services agreement under the TIPS cooperative purchasing program so commissioners could review the contract details.
Bill Smith of Goldsmith Solutions and Sam presented an agreement that would place county IT work under a pre-negotiated TIPS price schedule. Sam described TIPS as a Texas interlocal purchasing system and said the vendor’s prices are negotiated under that program; he also noted his firm had waived a usual bridal (bid?) charge for county work. He told the court the TIPS prices cannot increase during the one-year term and that the vendor carries required insurance. Sam said the vendor was open to adding the county as an additional insured on the vendor policy if requested.
Because the packet containing the agreement arrived shortly before the meeting, a commissioner moved to table the item and bring it to the next meeting for more thorough review. Commissioner Clark seconded the motion; the court voted unanimously to table. Sam agreed to provide the agreement as a separate PDF and to return with updated dates for the next meeting on Aug. 11.
