Travis County to close Bridal Olson Road temporarily for culvert replacement; work follows Atlas 14 drainage standards

Travis County Transportation and Natural Resources told Commissioners Court on July 15 that Bridal Olson Road will be temporarily detoured so crews can replace culverts between FM 973 and Axle Lane, with construction expected Aug. 11 through Oct. 10 or until work is complete.

Public Works engineer Brian Burke said positioning equipment on the narrow roadway will prevent two-way traffic during the work, so a detour is required. Senior drainage engineer Jason Breck told the court the replacement will maintain the existing flow capacity and increase it somewhat to meet current standards, including Atlas 14 rainfall data adopted by the county.

The court opened and closed a public hearing without public speakers and recommended staff provide signage and public notice for the detour and contact information for residents with questions.

Ending: TNR said bridal property access on the existing alignment will be maintained through the restriction period and that the department has not received inquiries as of the hearing date.
