The Massachusetts House on Sept. 11, 2025, adopted orders extending the reporting deadlines for the Committee on Public Health and the Committee on Public Safety and Homeland Security. The committee on rules reported orders extending the time within which the public health committee may report on current House documents to Thursday, Oct. 9, 2025, and to Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2025, in separate orders; it also reported an order extending the time for the Committee on Public Safety and Homeland Security to Thursday, Oct. 9, 2025.
The orders were filed by Representative Decker of Cambridge and Representative Karens of Danvers for the public health extensions (House numbers 4484 and 4485) and by Representative Cahill of Lynn and Representative Worrell of Boston for the public safety extension (House number 4486). Representative Owens of Watertown moved suspension of the rules so the House could consider the orders; each suspension was approved and each order was adopted by voice vote as recorded in the clerk's announcements.
The orders formally change committee deadlines for reporting and do not themselves enact policy. They authorize the committees named to continue review and preparation of reports on pending documents through the October dates specified. No committee reports or substantive legislative changes were described in the transcript at the time these procedural orders were adopted.
