Water Resource Recovery Facility to re-advertise Weston screen and grit chamber project after single high bid

The Lucas County Water Resource Recovery Facility asked commissioners Aug. 12 to reject bids and re-advertise for the Weston flow screen and grit chamber project after receiving a single bid above the county’s competitiveness threshold.

Nate Incrat, presenting for the facility, said the project was advertised and only one bid was received; that bid was “well over the engineer’s estimate” and near the county’s 20% threshold for allowable overage. Incrat asked the board to reject the bid and re-advertise in hopes of attracting more competitive responses and a better price.

Commissioner Lopez moved approval to reject and re-advertise the solicitation; the clerk recorded the affirmative votes and the motion passed.

No additional procurement or budgetary details were provided in the public presentation; staff said the goal is to re-advertise and improve competition to lower the eventual contract price.
