Carpentersville swore in three new police officers during its Sept. 2 board meeting, and Police Chief Shaver said the hires bring the department to full staffing.
“Tonight, it's my pleasure to introduce 3 new police officers… these 3 hires actually put us at full staff finally,” Chief Shaver told the village board before administering the oath.
The newly sworn officers identified in the meeting were Nathan Pesos, Jesus Ignacio and Donna Missoula. The chief said each graduated from the Suburban Law Enforcement Academy on Aug. 22. Chief Shaver also noted that one recruit, Nathan Pesos, holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois Chicago; the transcript records that Pesos double majored in criminal justice and psychology. Chief Shaver said the three hires allowed the department to reach full authorized staffing.
Each officer recited the oath of office in the meeting record. Family members and guests were present in the audience as the swearing-in concluded; the board paused for photographs and brief remarks of thanks.
Why it matters: Police staffing levels affect patrol capacity and response times; the chief framed the hires as restoring the department to full authorized strength.
