Commissioners approve routine appropriations, sewer pump payment and sign funding; flag grant reimbursement risk

At their Sept. 4 meeting the Hocking County commissioners approved several routine appropriation transfers and purchases and discussed whether expected reimbursements were assured.

The board approved an election-office transfer to move $5,000 from contract services to travel for certification classes. Commissioners also approved an additional appropriation in the sewer fund of $25,000 to cover new pumps and parts; staff said this is the bill for a large replacement pump and associated installation costs and that the expenditure will be submitted for reimbursement under an existing Rockbridge project grant but that reimbursement is "by no means guaranteed." Commissioners approved a $5,000 appropriation from lodging-tax funds for installation (electric and concrete pad) of an annex sign on the Hunter Street side of the annex building, and transfers covering court salaries and hospitalization to fund payroll for the remainder of the year.

The motions passed by voice vote; staff advised the board that the sewer pump payment will be submitted as part of the Rockbridge project reimbursement but that the county must pay the vendor regardless of the reimbursement outcome. Commissioners recorded approvals and instructed departments to pursue grant reimbursement and documentation.
