Commission sets review process: written comments, revised draft, then public hearing in October, staff says

At the Aug. 28 Papa County Zoning Commission meeting David (American SearchPoint) and staff outlined a tentative schedule for reviewing the draft land‑use ordinance package. Staff asked commissioners and the public to return written comments (preferably Microsoft Word with tracked changes) and said the consultant will integrate feedback after county fair week.

David and commissioners discussed holding a working session or presenting a proposed draft at a late‑September commission meeting (the consultant referenced a possible "20 fifth" meeting date during the discussion) and then scheduling a public hearing in early‑to‑mid October. The commission discussed options for public‑meeting logistics: one proposal was an October public hearing followed by a zoning commission meeting soon after to consider what was heard and, if appropriate, recommend a final draft to the county commission for possible adoption in late October.

Staff emphasized the draft status of the packet and encouraged broad review. David and staff said they will circulate an editable electronic copy and that comments submitted before the fair week review window would be most useful for producing a revised draft in time for the commission's September meeting.

No formal action was taken. Dates discussed were tentative and depend on staff schedules and venue availability; staff said they will coordinate with the county auditor on taxation issues that intersect with the drafts.
