Warrenton 1 The Board of Aldermen unanimously approved two land-use ordinances on Tuesday to vacate a portion of an alley and a separate roadway easement that the applicants said were no longer needed.
The first ordinance (Bill 41-25) authorizes the release and vacation of a portion of an alley near Walton Street and Morgan Street; Director of Planning and Development Tim Perks said the applicants, David and Laurie Robinette, intend to consolidate adjacent lots by filing a boundary-line adjustment if the alley abandonment is approved. Perks told the board the Planning and Zoning Commission considered the request on Aug. 7 and recommended approval 6-0 (three absences, one vacancy). The ordinance passed on second reading by roll call vote with all six aldermen recorded yes.
The second ordinance (Bill 42-25) vacates a roadway easement within the Forestdale Subdivision on the west side adjacent to the North Service Road. Perks said the utility easement would remain in place and the vacation covers only the roadway easement; the request followed approval of a 67.54-acre residential project that includes 27 single-family lots. That ordinance also passed by unanimous roll call vote.
Nut graf: Both abandonments were forwarded by the planning commission with favorable recommendations; in one case the applicants plan a boundary-line adjustment, and in the Forestdale case staff noted the roadway easement vacation will not remove existing utility easements.
Council recorded the roll-call votes as unanimous for both ordinances. No public opposition or conditions were recorded on the council floor during the readings.
Ending: With ordinances approved, applicants may proceed with boundary adjustments, plats and subsequent permit applications subject to standard city review and remaining utility easement protections.
