Commissioners grant expedited annexation of 28.324 acres in Miami Township to Yellow Springs

The Greene County Board of Commissioners on July 3 granted an expedited Type 1 annexation petition to annex approximately 28.324 acres in Miami Township into the village of Yellow Springs.

County staff explained that for expedited Type 1 annexations the county has no discretion to deny the petition when the property owner, the township and the receiving municipality have agreed. Staff said the necessary agreement was in place, and the board moved to approve the annexation.

A commissioner said with a smile that the board votes in such cases are routine; the motion to approve the petition was seconded and recorded as "Aye." No objections or conditions were recorded on the record.

The annexation takes effect per statutory requirements for Type 1 expedited annexations; staff did not state any subsequent land-use or service changes during the meeting.
