Homer Glen, School District 92 approve agreement for Homerfest parking at Oak Prairie Junior High

The Village of Homer Glen on May 20 approved an intergovernmental agreement with Will County School District 92 to use Prairie Oak Prairie (Oak Prairie) Junior High School property for public parking and pedestrian access during the Homer Community Festival, scheduled for June 26–29, 2025.

Trustees and staff said the arrangement is customary and helps the festival handle increased attendance and parking demand. Trustee LaPorte thanked District 92 and Oak Prairie Junior High for allowing use of the lot; Trustee Mueller and Trustee Reinders also thanked the district during the meeting. One trustee noted that the school district did not charge the village for the use, calling the contribution “neighborly.”

The board approved the agreement by roll call. Village officials said the school‑lot arrangement will be used as overflow parking during the scheduled festival dates and that the village will coordinate logistics with District 92 and festival organizers.
