Department reports $14.7 million refunded in 2024 property‑tax refund program; most applications processed

Brett Fanning, Director of the Department of Revenue, briefed the committee on the property‑tax refund program. "We had 15,390 applications for our property tax refund program," Fanning said. As of his briefing the department had refunded 13,990 applicants, totaling $14,700,073.41 (rounded in the meeting to $14,700,000), rejected 1,341 applications mainly for exceeding the income threshold, and asked for additional information from 58 applicants; 56 refunds remained outstanding.

Fanning told the committee the department had largely completed refunds about a month early and offered to answer questions. Committee members thanked the department for the rapid processing and asked that any remaining paperwork be finished and summary data be provided to the committee.

No formal committee action was taken; the department will finalize the remaining files and provide any requested summary tables.
