Trustee: village negotiating lease terms to add Verizon antenna to water tower; monetization may follow

Trustee Clayton told the board Sept. 2 that Verizon has approached the village seeking to place an antenna on the water tower. The village previously hosted AT&T and T-Mobile under long-term leases and had monetized those leases through an agreement with a firm called Landmark.
Clayton said the finance group has negotiated what he described as improved lease terms from Verizon and that the board will receive a Verizon analysis at the next meeting. If the board approves the Verizon offer, Clayton said the village could pursue monetization of the lease with a firm such as Landmark to avoid technology and long-term management risk.
Clayton said the finance committee ran present-value calculations and is prepared to make a recommendation at an upcoming meeting.
