Board approves transfer for La Nueva Empanada; owner to complete inspections

The Lawrence Licensing Board approved a local transfer of a commercial license for La Nueva Empanada (Olaga, Inc.) at 144–146 South Union Street.

Accountant Gary Ortiz told the board the business had been operating under prior ownership and that the seller remained on site pending transfer. Board members confirmed the new ownership would arrange required one-time inspections; staff said a one-time inspection application had been filed but not yet completed.

Lieutenant Frias agreed to check the location this week to confirm inspections because the location has residential occupants above. Commissioner Morales moved to approve the transfer and Commissioner Lehr seconded; the motion passed. The board instructed staff to verify inspection completion and record that the license transfer is effective locally pending any outstanding compliance items.
