Staff seeks council input on creating an on-call engineering services list

Staff asked the council for input on a plan to solicit prequalified, on-call engineering firms to supplement the city's existing engineering contract. A staff presenter said an on-call list typically includes multiple pre-approved firms available for smaller projects, construction management and specialty services.
"Just for clarification, an on call engineer isn't doesn't take over the actual city engineering service" a staff member said, explaining that the city's current contracted engineering services would remain in place and that the on-call pool would be an additional resource.
Staff said on-call services could expedite delivery for multiple upcoming projects including the transit center, construction-management needs, and other water and infrastructure work; the presentation said council would ultimately approve the firms that make the on-call list.
