The Tyler City Council on Aug. 27 approved an owner-initiated annexation of property at the corner of Old Omen Road and County Road 2120 and a related rezoning of an in‑city portion of the overall site.
Staff said the parcel subject to annexation already contains detached single‑family development and the applicant seeks city utilities and city zoning to regularize the development. The annexation would adjust the city limit boundary and place the property in City Council District 5. Planning staff said the requested future land‑use designation is planned multifamily (PMF) to match the applicant’s site plan.
Planning staff also presented a separate request to rezone the in‑city portion of the same development from R1A single‑family to PMF planned multifamily so the zoning matches the site plan already constructed. Notices were mailed and the Planning Commission recommended approval of both annexation and rezoning by a unanimous 7–0 vote. Council approved the items by voice vote.
Staff noted the annexation ordinance also authorizes the city manager to sign a written agreement for provision of city services as required by state law.
