Elementary science resources, standards and new materials approved after multi-year review

Curriculum staff told the committee they had completed a chapter of the district’s elementary science work and presented extensive resource documents aligned to updated science standards.
Staff said elementary chairs produced thorough, user-friendly documents because the district had not updated resources in many years and state science standards changed. The presenter thanked chairs, summer workers and district staff for extra hours to complete materials and reduce follow-up questions from teachers.
A committee member said she would review materials and request access if needed; the presenter said ownership and storage steps will be completed to place the materials in the curriculum warehouse.
Committee members praised the elementary teams and noted the elementary curriculum work provided a foundation for middle- and high-school planning.
