Sheldon Independent School District introduced multiple new campus leaders and honored district programs at a board meeting, with administrators and invited guests present to mark the appointments and recognitions.
The board and Superintendent Dr. McCall introduced new and recently promoted administrators who will serve across the district. Appointees named during the meeting included Minister Lee (associate principal, King Ninth Grade campus); Jasmine Bell (returning administrator; role introduced by the superintendent); Mika Jackson (Dean, King Middle School); Kathleen Weaver (principal, Sheldon Elementary); and other principals and assistant principals for Garrett, Monahan, Early College High School and other campuses. Several of the appointees spoke briefly to thank the board and express commitment to student success. For example, Jasmine Bell said, “I am so excited to be back home,” and Minister Lee said he was “humbled to be here” and “ready to ensure that every student…is able to overcome their obstacles.”
The district also recognized program accomplishments: Sheldon Early Learning Center received a four‑star Texas Rising Star rating, indicating the program exceeds state child‑care licensing standards; the district was named in the top 8 percent statewide by the Texas Art Education Association for fine arts programming; nine school‑based constables completed a 128‑hour school‑based law enforcement master training accredited by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement and conducted by the Texas State School Safety Center; and Franklins Early Childhood Academy was named the district’s 2024–25 Parent Engagement Innovative Campus of the Year. Superintendent Dr. McCall was recognized with the National School Public Relations Association’s Superintendents to Watch award.
These personnel announcements and recognitions were presented as part of the meeting’s celebration and reports; no formal board action to ratify individual hires was read aloud during these remarks, and questions about specific contract terms or start dates were not specified in the public remarks.
The meeting moved on after the recognitions to financial and governance items on the agenda.
