The State Parole Board voted to grant conditional parole to Kevin Williams, DLC 567922, while imposing completion of mandatory in-prison classes as a condition of release.
The warden's office told the panel that Williams was performing well in the transitional work program and had no disciplinary problems. Williams said the manslaughter conviction arose from an accidental shooting while "playing with the gun," and told the panel he had been in work release for three years and had saved some money.
Panel members agreed to grant parole conditionally. The chair required anger-management training in addition to other mandatory classes; another member added a victim-awareness requirement that could be completed after release if needed. The board set the conditions and recorded that Williams must complete the listed programs prior to release.
Decision: parole granted conditionally; DOC staff were instructed to assist Williams in completing the mandatory classes and to confirm completion before release.
