Jay Garrison, a Moses Lake resident of 68 years, told the City Council at the Aug. 26 meeting that drivers regularly speed and volume is high on the 200 block of North Dale Road, and he urged the city to take action to prevent a possible fatal crash.
Garrison said that on more than 300 days per year the block sees between 300 and 1,500 vehicles, and that "40% are violating the speed limit," with "30% going between 30 to 35 miles per hour" and "10% going 35 plus." He proposed a combination of remedies including speed bumps, installation of a photo-speed camera, and enforcement under the city's ordinance 18-42.
Council follow-up: Council member Lombardi asked whether Garrison had previously contacted the city. After Garrison said yes, City staff said they would research the history of the location and follow up with him. City staff did not commit to any immediate physical changes at the meeting.
Context and next steps: Staff said they would review prior contacts and enforcement history for the location and then report back to the resident and council with options. No formal enforcement action or capital work was authorized at the meeting.
