The Maryville Town Council voted 6-0 Tuesday to approve Ordinance 25-25, appropriating additional monies in the fire protection territory cumulative equipment fund to cover overtime, repair parts, contractual services and equipment.
The ordinance, described at the meeting as an in-territory appropriation to address immediate operational needs, passed on a roll-call vote after a brief motion to approve.
Council members said the measure was procedural and intended to keep the fire territory’s operations funded while capital and repair needs continue. There was no extended debate on the ordinance during the meeting; the council moved to roll call and adoption.
Clerk Treasurer Eric January conducted the roll call. Vice President Neal, Councilwoman Haines Edwards, Councilwoman Chandler Felton, Councilman Pettit, Councilwoman Hardaway and President Bello all voted in favor. The motion carried by unanimous vote.
The ordinance text presented to the council listed the categories to be funded — overtime, repair parts, contractual services and equipment — but did not include detailed line-item amounts during the public meeting. Council members did not request additional information during the vote.
Council members noted the item as part of routine budget adjustments for the fire territory; no follow-up assignments or reports were requested at the meeting.
Looking ahead, the council will include the ordinance in the town’s meeting record and accounting for the fire territory fund.
