Councilors told the meeting the Maryville Redevelopment Commission has approved the consent agenda and is proceeding with closing on a six-acre parcel on Colorado Street for a future fire station.
Councilman Pettit said he and other officials will schedule a meeting to review the settlement statement when it is complete and that the town will have to approve the allocation in a public meeting before funds are wired through the clerk treasurer’s office to the title company.
Pettit said the town expects to complete those steps next week if the settlement statement and paperwork are in order. The council did not vote on the property closing at the town meeting; Pettit described next steps for budget allocation and wiring of funds.
Separately, the fire territory reported that bids were approved at a recent meeting so the south-end fire station project can move forward; officials expect to break ground next March. The council did not set a formal town-level vote at Tuesday’s meeting to authorize construction costs; the Redevelopment Commission closing and subsequent allocation approval were the specific items described.
Council members asked staff to confirm the settlement statement and to coordinate the transfer of funds through the Clerk Treasurer’s office and the town’s title agent.
