CSS reports growth in vocational supports for people with disabilities; committee hears rising demand

Representatives from CSS briefed the county committee on vocational supports funded in part by the 3‑77 developmental‑disability program, reporting that the agency served 30 individuals and provided 16,288 hours of job support during the past fiscal year.

Andy of CSS presented the agency’s annual report, saying 3‑77 funds accounted for $194,231 of the roughly $296,000 cost to deliver services during the year. He compared 2025 figures with 2024: in 2024 CSS served 21 individuals and provided about 13,900 support hours.

Since May, CSS said, it has received four new adult referrals and seven students beginning transitions from county high schools; another individual was scheduled for a program tour. The presenter said many clients start without prior work experience and are placed into community jobs after months of programming.

Committee members praised the program’s outcomes and noted the funds provided through 3‑77 enable people with developmental and intellectual disabilities to gain employment and independence. No county funding motion was taken during the presentation.
