Council approves amendment to sublease for Sportsmen's Association at port facility

City staff presented Resolution 25-58, an amendment that extends the city's sublease with the Euphrader Sportsmen's Association for a shooting range/facility at port property. Staff said the facility has provided community benefits for years, hosting events that attract visitors and allowing multiple local law enforcement jurisdictions to use the facility at no charge. The amendment aligns the association's sublease term with the city's lease with the Port of Euphrader and preserves continued use while the city and port negotiate a longer-term arrangement.

Councilmembers expressed support for the facility. One councilmember said, "I'm really excited that we're able to get everyone on the same page, get that got pushed through. I think everyone really likes having that facility. It's a first class facility out there." The council moved and seconded the resolution and voted in favor; the chair called the motion approved.

Staff said the amendment is an interim step that allows negotiations with the port for a longer-term extension to proceed without disrupting the Sportsmen's Association activities. No public comment or agency objections were reported during the staff presentation.
