City staff presented cost estimates to install the municipal logo on the new reservoir tank and asked the council whether to install one logo, two logos, or none. Sean, city staff, said the bid included a $20,000 placeholder; after contractor and subcontractor pricing, the cost for one logo would be $28,157.44 (including sales tax), an increase of $6,477.44 over the placeholder. Two logos would cost $43,001.77 (including tax), an increase of about $21,498 over the placeholder.
Council members debated whether one side would be sufficient and where a single logo would face — toward the airport or toward the town — and noted that neighboring communities sometimes brand only one side of tanks. Several councilmembers argued for two logos to provide visibility from multiple approaches and to avoid a blank side visible to nearby residents. One councilmember said that, despite the added cost, the skyline and site justified both sides; others agreed.
A motion authorizing a two-sided logo (one on each side of the tank) was made, seconded and approved by voice vote. Staff said the selected option will be added as a change order to the reservoir construction contract and funded from project contingencies or the capital project budget.
