Anna McAllister, Orange City public information officer, urged residents to attend the city council meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 26, at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chamber at 201 North Holly Avenue and said the meeting will be streamed on YouTube. "This is the OC Minute, everything you need to know in 1 municipal minute," McAllister said.
McAllister described several routine city notices that affect residents: a new digital display has been installed at the intersection of Graves Avenue and 1792 in the former location of the “Old Mont Keys” sign and is currently in a testing phase; the utilities department is conducting annual hydrant flushing now through October, which may cause low water pressure or temporary discoloration; and Orange City Utilities is asking customers to update contact information to receive text alerts.
The city emphasized that the water remains safe to drink during hydrant flushing. McAllister advised residents that if they see discoloration they should "run your outside faucet for a few minutes until the water clears." She also reminded residents to update utility contact details so they will receive service updates and account notices by text. "Stay informed, stay connected, and we'll see you at the next OC Minute," McAllister said.
The announcements were presented as informational items; no votes or formal actions were recorded during this short public information segment. The council meeting time, livestream availability, the sign testing, the hydrant flushing schedule and the utility contact-update request were all presented as notices for residents planning to attend or who may be affected by temporary service impacts.
