District safety staff told the Brexville Board of Education on Aug. 20 that building principals and their response teams completed a full day of C‑STAG comprehensive threat‑assessment training last week. The training, led by Brian Koss and his team, was described as an update to the district’s threat‑assessment processes and as aligned with House Bill 123 requirements.
Why it matters: the training establishes a districtwide process for assessing and documenting potential threats, and staff said the teams — typically led by a principal and including assistant principals, counselors, behavior coaches, school psychologists and other staff — are intended to identify credible threats and follow documented procedures to protect students and staff while avoiding unnecessary overreactions.
A staff presenter said teams generally include about eight members and listed typical roles: principals (lead), assistant principals, school counselors, behavior coaches and school psychologists. The presenter described the training as research‑aligned and focused on assessing credibility and appropriate responses, and the board’s discussion emphasized the balance between careful investigation and avoiding overreaction when allegations are not substantiated.
No board action was required; staff reported completion of the training and said the district will continue to implement updated threat‑assessment practices and required documentation for compliance.
