The Government Operations Committee unanimously approved two routine assessment resolutions on Aug. 7: establishing county equalization rates (ID 13463) and adopting the 2025 assessment footings format (ID 13462).
County assessment verification
Jay Franklin, the county assessor, told the committee that New York State had verified the county’s assessment rolls at a 100% level, a determination that allows the county to apportion property taxes among towns and villages. Franklin said the footings document is produced in the same format annually and that the actual footings were not attached to the distribution but would be provided to the legislature’s office.
Votes and motions
Both motions were moved by Legislator Rich and seconded by Legislator Greg and carried unanimously.
Ending
No substantive changes to assessment methodology were described during the meeting; the actions were presented as the routine annual steps required to carry forward the county’s tax apportionment process.
