Ulster County accepts $283,888 New York Connects grant to staff information program

The Ulster County Health, Human Services, and Human Rights Committee on Aug. 7 approved Resolution 3 78 to authorize the chair to execute a grant application for the New York Connects program through the New York State Office for the Aging.
Director Kopenhafer told the committee the award is an annual contract of $283,888 — the same amount as the prior year — and that it funds two full-time and two part-time New York Connects staff (some contracted, some direct). Kopenhafer said the grant covers personnel, fringe, equipment, travel, mileage and supplies and that the funds are typically “pretty much all used up by the end of the year.”
The program provides information and referral services for older adults and people with disabilities; the resolution authorizes submission of the required assurances and acceptance of the award. Committee members raised no objections during the discussion, and the resolution was adopted by motion.
