The Board of Public Works and Safety on Sept. 2 approved requests for street closures tied to Franklin College home football games to help manage traffic, parking and pedestrian safety. Fire Chief Josh Snyder said closures typically occur directly in front of the football field and that the college handles barricades and security. He noted that for homecoming on Oct. 11 the closure window is planned as 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and other game-day closures would be 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. "They put up barricades, and they have their own security," Snyder said. A board member moved to approve the closures as presented; the motion was seconded and the board approved it by voice vote. The college’s security and event plans were described as self-sufficient; no additional city staffing levels or traffic control plans were recorded in the meeting minutes.
