Board Authorizes Disposal of City Surplus Technology Equipment

The Board of Public Works and Safety on Sept. 2 approved disposal of surplus technology equipment that the city said has no salvageable value. Rick Littleton, director of technology, told the board the equipment is recycled by a company that destroys data and that the same vendor handles recycling for the schools. "It is equipment that has no salvageable value," a board member asked; Littleton confirmed, "That is correct." Littleton said the equipment is destroyed by a recycler to ensure no data remains. The board moved and seconded the disposal request and approved it by voice vote.
