Council OKs Heritage Days/Boom Days permit, requires written confirmation on emergency planning threshold

The Llano City Council considered a special events permit application for “Landau Heritage Days / Boom Days” to be held at the railyard and voted to issue the permit subject to required documentation.

Staff and council discussed whether the event met a numerical attendance threshold that would require a county emergency operations plan; Gilbert (the county emergency official referenced in staff remarks) told staff the event did not meet the threshold. Council asked that the determination be provided in writing from Gilbert to include in the permit file. Council member direction and the meeting exchange referenced the city’s special events application requirements, which include emergency planning documentation when thresholds are met.

A motion to approve the permit was made and seconded; council voted in favor and the motion carried. Staff noted the event department’s application checklist and confirmed that the event must meet city application requirements. No additional conditions were added beyond required application documentation and the requested written confirmation from Gilbert.
