Council approves amended employment and severance agreements for city manager and assistant city manager

After convening in executive session under Texas Government Code Chapter 551 for personnel matters, the Bridgeport City Council on Aug. 11 approved amended employment agreements and severance agreements for two senior staff positions.

Mayor Pro Tem Matt Van Hoose reported to the council in open session that the council took action following the executive session. Councilmember Matt Van Hoose moved to approve entering into an amended employment agreement and a severance agreement for the assistant city manager/police chief, the motion was seconded by Bobby Rodriguez and passed 5–0. The council then moved and approved an amended employment agreement and severance agreement for the city manager; Sylvia Ramirez seconded that motion and the vote was 5–0.

Council did not discuss the terms of the agreements in open session; the mayor reported the actions upon return from executive session. The approved motions direct staff to execute the amended employment agreements and severance agreements effective the date of the meeting. The city clerk will maintain the signed agreements in personnel files as permitted by law.
